Introducing Two Self-paced Online Courses
Welcome to HKU! Two online courses have been designed to help year one students successfully transition to university life! Our two courses Preparation for University: Essentials for Success and Introduction to Research Methods will provide you with the foundational skills needed to excel in your academic journey.
No prior knowledge is needed for either course. Together, these courses of about 20 hours of learning each, will provide you with a solid foundation for your university experience and develop a path toward academic success. First year students have already been pre-enrolled, and you can start building the skills you need to thrive at HKU!
Completion of each will earn you one out-of-classroom academic credit.
*BONUS* First year students who complete both courses by October 31 will be eligible for a $50 voucher for the HKU Visitor Centre.
Preparation for University. Essentials for Success
This course introduces you to some important skills for transitioning from learning at secondary school to learning at the University. This course will explore communication skills, productivity and time management.
Introduction to Research Methods
In our current world with information and data available all around us, how do we navigate, analyse and learn new things? What you need are research skills! This course bridges the gap between abstract research concepts and practical application by offering hands-on exercises using real-world data, building students’ confidence in research skills.
